Off Script: A Field Guide to the Signal
Some days, a sentence is too much work. An eye, a cracked face, a warning sign—those get there faster.
Look around Studio Ayyo0oh and you’ll see them repeating. On clothing. In the artwork. Across the little marks that make up this strange corner of the internet.
Here’s one way into that language.
The eye: pay attention
“Are you watching or witnessing?”
I like a question that follows you out of the room.
Watching can become a habit. Scroll, react, move on. Witnessing asks something harder: what did I actually see? What am I willing to understand? What happens after I put the phone down?
I have to ask myself those questions too. Preferably before opening another app and forgetting why I picked up the phone. A thriving human operation over here.
The Watching or Witnessing Eye Tee carries that question into an ordinary day.
The mask: let yourself change
“No mask fits forever.”
There are versions of ourselves we learn to wear because they get us through the day. The agreeable one. The capable one. The one who says “all good” while mentally walking into the ocean.
Sometimes a role helps us survive. Eventually, we get to ask whether it still fits.
I read the cracked mask as permission to answer honestly. To outgrow an old performance. To be a person whose shape is still changing.
That thought lives on the No Mask Fits Forever joggers.
The signal: reach another human
A radio tower sends something outward without knowing exactly who will receive it.
Making art feels a little like that. You put a thought into the world. Someone you’ve never met recognizes a piece of their own life in it. For a second, the distance gets smaller.
That’s the connection I’m interested in. A small “I see it too” finding its way through the noise.
Off script: choose your next move
“OFF SCRIPT.” “UNLEARN.” “REAL OVER APPROVED.”
These are useful reminders to keep nearby. Ask where a belief came from. Notice when approval starts making your decisions. Leave yourself room to reconsider.
A design can hold a thought. Living it still takes practice. I’m working on that part alongside everyone else.
Take the symbol that means something to you. Let the meaning grow as you do.
WEAR YOUR TRUTH.
